Friends,
I see a lot of ads these days about going back to school - especially for Master's degrees. It is not necessarily a bad idea if you keep the following in mind:
If you take out loans, you are going to have to pay them back. This can be a VERY substantial amount of money and is not normally dischargable in a bankruptcy.
Be sure that the degree is going to get you PAID. It is like any other investement. It has to earn a profit. Many people spend $20,000+ on a Masters and find that it provides little or no help in getting a job, or increases their salary just slightly.
The MBA is NOT an automatic ticket to a job and the big money unless it is from schools like Harvard and Wharton.
There is NO shame is learning a trade. Consider going to school to become an electrician, plumber or auto mechanic. Some of these guys make $100K+.
NOT EVERYONE SHOULD OR NEEDS TO GO TO COLLEGE TO DO RIGHT BY THEIR FAMILY AND THEMSELVES!
